We assume that volunteer programs enhance the capacity of nonprofit organizations by supplementing and extending the work of paid staff. But by how much? Certainly volunteers bring intangible benefits to good causes, but how to quantify these can be a challenge to say the least. And yet, we’re often asked to defend our programs and justify our (often meager) basic budget and support needs.
- Measuring ROI in monetary and non-monetary terms has tremendous benefits including:
- Helping Executive Directors, Boards of Directors and CEOs to have a better understanding of the real value of a volunteer program.
- Helping you to monitor the effectiveness of your department on a year-to-year basis.
- Demonstrates the financial benefits of the organizations investing more money in the volunteer department (or at least not cutting it back).
This workshop & panel discussion will help you to inspire your organization to leverage volunteers more fully in core operations to enhance service delivery and impact your mission; learn how to calculate all of the costs (monetary and human effort) that go into their volunteer program and how to compare that with the value of the accomplishments of their volunteers; and engage funders in recognizing that volunteerism are cost effective strategies that help organizations accomplish their mission, thus meriting their financial support.
